Mr. Steven Jacobs

Steven Anthony Jacobs, born 13th September 1988, is a Guyanese former professional cricketer and now successful businessman.

Jacobs, a right-hand batsman and off-spin bowler, began his cricketing career as a teenager, making his first-class debut for Guyana at the Carib Beer Cup in 2006, and then served as vice-captain on the West Indies team in the 2008 Under-19 World Cup in Malaysia. While attending the University of the West Indies, Jacobs captained UWI’s Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) squad and earned a diploma in Sports Management. Over his more than decade-long tenure as a sportsman, Jacobs was also a member of the Guyana Amazon Warriors and the Jamaica Tallawahs squads in the Caribbean Premier League.

Transitioning from sports to the business world, Jacobs, now a husband and father of two, in 2019 opened his first venture, Jacobs Jewlery and Pawn Shop. Since its humble beginnings, the business has seen significant growth and now serves as a promotional location for other local small businesses, seeking their own retail success.

Further expanding his business portfolio, Jacobs partnered with fellow former cricketer Leon Johnson in 2020 to establish First Change Builders. The company is currently among several contractors awarded Government contracts for the construction of “”young-professional”” homes. First Change Builders is also expanding its services to include the construction of roads.

Steven Jacobs, though now retired, remains committed to the development of youth cricket in Guyana and continues to actively participate in local events, supporting young aspiring cricketers.
